FrançaisBORDEAUX (France): the S. Michel's church Tower. Named: "The Arrow", built at the Median Ages, one in the highest ancien towers in the world: 108 meters. It's separated of the church itself, that is so rare. In Bordeaux, the S. André cathedral has a separated tower too. It's due to numerous streams running through the city before; they didn't allow to build a heavy tower anywhere, but only on the solidest grounds.
On 1999, December the 27, we had a hurricane in France, causing huge damages, but "The Arrow" resisted! But yet, the wind reached 200 km / h (120 miles p./h. !). If you want for more informations about this tower, or other monuments of my city, pictures, etc., please, just...
